As an artist, I always want to stay true to myself. At first it was just curiosity. I was messing around with different producing programs, I guess just getting the feel. At first I don’t think there was a thought of this actually becoming something longterm. As time went on, I can say I gained a lot of interest in creating music and decided to take it a little further and started rapping. It was all still based on curiosity. Wondering, what can I create with just the equipment that I have and how far can I go with it? Of course, along with that came a true interest and love for the process of creating music. This all started at the age of 14, looking back at it, I’ve grown a lot as a person because of music. I can say that becoming an artist has helped me look at things differently and be inspired by a wide variety of things in life. It taught me patience. When you really care about something, you can’t force it to become something you want. You have to let it become that overtime. My music for example, there was a time that I was trying to sound a certain way with it and I was forcing it. It was something I was really unhappy with because I truly care about my music and it wasn’t coming out how I wished it to. As time went on, I began to let the creating process become more natural, so to say. That’s when I began to realize I was creating something I was happy with and felt confident about. Because of that, I’ve learned that patience can play a key factor not only in something you care about, but with many situations in life.

It’s difficult at first to fully express yourself as an artist. It still is difficult for me at times to fully be myself. I feel like it’s hard for a lot of people to be themselves. People seem to fear what others may think of them or get caught up in trends. It all keeps them from being who they truly are. I think social media plays a big part because people have the freedom to express their opinions. I had to learn that if I wanted to become the artist that I have potential to be, I just have to be myself and not care about what others think of me. At the end of the day, IMG_7001I’m creating music for myself and people that can relate or be inspired. If you don’t like it, it wasn’t made for you. For the most part, iv’e learned to deal with negativity by just ignoring it. If you pay attention to any of the negativity, it can easily out weigh the good feedback. When I get positive feedback, I feel appreciative. It gives me that push to keep creating and makes me want to open up more. I feel like when you are being yourself, people can see that it’s genuine and will be more supportive. As time goes on and I continue creating, I can feel that I’m getting more comfortable with myself and expressing it through my music. That’s something I haven’t always been able to say.

I can say the music I make is an outlet for me to express my thoughts, whether it being an experience I’ve been through, an observation of someone else’s experience, or simply just a day dream. It’s a way to get those thoughts out in a creative way and share them with others. BIGB4I feel like I get most of my inspiration from just the things that go on around me. If I can take that and create something that people can relate to or inspire them just as much as I was, that’s enough to feel like I’ve succeeded. I always try to create music when I’m in a positive mood because that’s the vibe i want to put into the world. As of now, I feel like my music is a reflection of a place that my mind is at.
